Does anyone use or know if PASA still has pvt recreational (not instructor/school) kiteboarder insurance through First Flight or any other org?

I went to PASA and First Flight websites and could not make out head or tail of the situation.

As some may know, IKO no longer offers insurance.

Liability insurance is good to have, insurance that may actually pay a claim is quite another. Not sure about the history of IKO and First Flight coverage in that regard. Homeowners or renters insurance may have liability coverage that covers kiting related and it might actually pay out if needed. You can sometimes pay extra for higher coverage limits too.

OK lets get real. Your typical run of the line HO Umbrella or other liabiltiy type policy is not gonna cover kiteboarding. They say kite what?

So, the only options are First Flight type policies that specialize in this stuff.

If there is someone out there that has been successfull in the HO Umbrella world please step forward. Otherwise, anyone with the PASA info would be good to hear from as well.

You are asking for information, this is the impression I've gained over many years of fielding this same repetitious question. I've never filed a claim fortunately but have spoken to my agent about it as have quite a few other kiters over the years. Some guys have paid premiums to increase the liability limits to $1M. Not alone in viewing homeowners liability coverage as about the only viable option in this country for private individuals. Talk to your agent and perhaps a few others if necessary. Ask First Flight how many claims they've payed out on. Hopefully, there have been a few.
