Interesting stuff comes along every once in a while worth sending word along about. Non-kiting stuff, you know?

Just went to something interesting last night down in Ft. Lauderdale, a reggae concert. There's another one coming up with the same bands in Miami on Monday, April 20, 2009.

Lance-O is putting this on with some great bands like Stampede. I saw a new one last night, Kayaki, a Brazilian reggae group! They have a real good clean sound worth checking out. They struck me as one of the better groups I've heard recently. That even includes the Wailers (Bob Marley's old group) that came through Delray a few weeks back. They're mighty fine and worth checking out if they come to your town though.

The deal on Monday is described below:

A few weeks back my wife dragged me out to a concert at Kravitz. I wasn't real hot to go, it was a performance of Juan de Marcos' Afro Cuban Allstars. I have to confess that some of the traditional numbers in the past on the radio have reminded me of a half dozen cats being dragged tails first into a blender. Station surfing here I come!

In this case, not so at all. Not a discordant note the whole night, excellent sound and melody. These guys are pros, with a varied repertoire and lots of drive to go with, no breaks. They just hit it hard for hours. When they come into the area again, why not check them out?

I saw these guys at a concert on South Beach in Key West. They were fronting the Wailers. Their show was better than the headliner, IMO.

I hear you. The Wailers have been at it a LONG time. As loaded as the Marley estate is and hopefully these guys by extension, you'd think they might want to kick back and take it easier these days.

Lots of good reggae out there. My favorite local group, Kayaki, is from Brazil?
