Jimmy Lewis has chosen Fuacata Sports, LLC as his new distributor for the USA, South America, Central America, and the Caribbean. On January 1, 2009 Fuacata Sports, based in Miami, took over distribution in that territory for Jimmy's entire line of Kiteboards, Surfboards, and Stand Up Paddleboards. Fuacata Sports has great plans to build and support a dealer network that will grow the JL brand and make it more accessible to riders from Argentina to New England.
Fuacata Sports was founded by industry veterans Garry Menk and Ken Russell. The company name (pronounced FWAH-KAH-TAH!) is spanish slang meaning "Wham!", used to describe a surprising high impact. They are currently building Jimmy's new network of shops. From the first week of march, they are managing an online shopping cart at www.jimmylewis.com which will allow consumers to purchase and ship automatically from the closest stocking JL dealer or pick up in person.
Jimmy Lewis began shaping custom surfboards in Maui over 40 years ago. He has shaped boards for many of today's top riders and companies. His production lineup now includes 9 kiteboard models in 27 sizes, 5 SUP models in 12 sizes, and 7 Surfboard models in 14 sizes. The current production process combines epoxy construction, hand shaped rails and a high gloss automotive finish for maximum speed, control, quality, and design. New this year, twin tip foot straps are integrated into the pads for easier assembly. SUPs will include a handle and come with deck pad attached.
