Back to Jupiter for the running of the Kiteboarding Invasion for the sixth consecutive year.

The beach on Saturday (Click photo for full sized image)

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Jon_carves_s.jpg
Jon Modica riding easy for Cabrinha and NPX. Being a Jupiter native, riding in the waves here comes naturally to Jon. Got a ton of great shots of him in action.

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Damo.jpg
Damien Leroy also riding for Cabrinha passes while inverted. Damien came from Olympic snowboarding not so many years ago. He was ranked in the top ten worldwide, it shows.

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Lia_n_CJ_IMG_7825.jpg
CJ and Lia scope out the action

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/ray_loops_IMG_9840.jpg
Ray Leroy loops one. Ray has taken over operation of Seven Sports shops in Islamorada. They have a big kiting event coming up in March in Islamorada. Stay tuned for more on that.

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Cameron.jpg
Cameron Dietrich riding for Cabrinha ripping very well and in all the way from Maui

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Billy_2_s.jpg
Billy Parker, real strong kiter from Tampa, riding for Flexifoil

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Riding_time_IMG_7798.jpg
Excellent conditions!

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Mellissa_2.jpg
Melissa Gil riding for Cabrinha looking very good in the waves

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Andy.jpg
Andy Hurdman riding for Liquid Force has been a very strong rider in Florida for many years. Went off north for a while but he's here again, welcome back!

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Hilga_turns.jpg
Helga rips, looking fine. She works with Neil at Tiki Beach, Lauderdale kite launch and standup paddleboard center.

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/damo_IMG_0818_s.jpg
Damo flys off into the ether

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Dave_2_IMG_0158.jpg
David DeBerard rips along, comes easy to him living in Ft. Pierce. Great waves up that way. Dave along with Gebi and others helped to rescue three kids from a floundering powerboat in high seas off the Inlet there. They all used kites to bring the kids to shore, impressive. There is an illustrated account of the rescue at: http://fksa.org/showthread.php?t=1448

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Hamish_2.jpg
Hamish riding for Slingshot and Tiki Beach has been a real strong strapless kiter for years. In fact, he crossed to Bimini from Ft. Lauderdale on a surfboard in everything from gnat sneeze breeze to 20 kts, in calm to 7 ft. seas. Wonder what kind of board glue he uses?

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Kite_Girls_IMG_7826.jpg
Lots of regulars at these events including a bunch of these kitegirls. Staying warm on the beach between hitting sessions out in the waves.

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/three.jpg
Great conditions for hitting it

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Riding.jpg
Jessica from Ontario riding fine

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/neil_IMG_9592.jpg
We owe Neil a lot for announcing and helping to organize lots of kiting events over many years across the country. He even did a stint in La Ventana within the month. Thanks Neil!

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Nick_Brand_Kite.jpg
Nick flies his brand "X" kite, now famous through lots of events

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Cameron_runs.jpg

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Damo_flys.jpg
Damo just glides along

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Rick_s_IMG_9762.jpg
You can get going really fast with all the surface area of these boards as Rick demonstrates. He did well in the wave riding, coming in third against some major talent.

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Billy_s.sized.jpg
Lots of us were looking forward to seeing Billy nail some huge moves. I can recall his casually riding along in the leading group heading down to Lauderdale from Jupiter and boosting these monster jumps, just playing, on a 60 mile race. There's talent,. Anyway, it looks like he boosted a real high handle pass off the water, he dropped his bar, the resulting line impact of his fall broke something on his leash. He was dropped to the water, DQ'd unfortunately, and his kite went sailing off downwind. It shows up in the next sequence.

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Billy_2_s_IMG_0359.jpg

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/matt_IMG_0303.jpg
Matt a major force in the Collegiate Kiteboarding Association (CKA) heads out

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Laid_out.jpg
Nap time? Great form!

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/stairs_IMG_7744.jpg

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Crossing_s.jpg
Collision? Not this time

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/D_n_A.jpg
Damo boosts up as Andy rides in

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Jan_IMG_0932.jpg
Jan gets ready to go

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Jon_IMG_0505.jpg
Making it look so easy, it's not!

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Jeremy_IMG_7803.jpg
Big thanks to Jeremy of Jupiter Kiteboarding for making this great event a reality, six times and counting!

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Riping_s.jpg
Daniel charging real hard and looking good

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Damo_spray.jpg
Great balance there, as I recall Damo hammered in but good from a handle pass but nailed the landing

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/walking_IMG_9587.jpg
There goes Tracy, ready to ride!

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Nick_IMG_0697.jpg

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/JL_Guys_IMG_8032.sized.jpg
Garry Menk and Kent Russell show off a prize they donated for the best wave riding of the morning. The guys have joined together to take over distribution of Jimmy Lewis Boards to all of North and South America.

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Dan_s.jpg
Dan Floyd of South Carolina showing off some of the excellent techniques that won the Jimmy Lewis board for him. Dan has a kite and water sports shop in SC.

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/launch_IMG_7723.jpg

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/wipeout_IMG_9787.jpg
Have to say most of the expressions in the wipeout shots are pretty cool and collected.

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Beach_repair.jpg

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Pair_s_IMG_0903.jpg
Nick races Hamish?

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Paul_IMG_0301.jpg
I think this is Paul Porter with an unexpected dismount. Paul shoots excellent images from all over including of the last 60 mile race from Jupiter to Ft. Lauderdale.

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Strapless_s.jpg
Strapless riding has been around for a long time, since the start really. Still, you have to think it is coming into its own these days

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Sup_2.jpg
On Sunday lots of standup paddle surfing

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album375/Tree_sea.jpg
So, that's a short look at Saturday. More to come ...

Yes, have a ton of shots, still discovering interesting ones even now. Sam asked for some in particular, a magazine was interested in some of him as well. Not sure but I think I have a couple of good ones to send them. Anyway, the answer is yes, just need more time to find, process and put them up.

Facebook seems to be real popular these days. I've put a lot of these up there though not all of them at the link below. Is it just me or is the photo resolution a little lower on Facebook? http://tinyurl.com/d4s8t2

More to come ...

I spent a couple of hours going through stuff, processing in an effort to get Sam into a kiting mag. They had asked for some images of him. Not sure I succeeded but not for lack of trying. Hard to recognize people in a couple of thousand small images. Anyway, all the folks in the folllowing photos seem to have facebook accounts. These aren't the best shots unfortunately as I took many of them shortly after I arrived with a lower sun, backlighting the shots somewhat.

Here's a few more from Sunday when the wind shifted and eased:

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album376/d_n_j.jpg
Dave and Jeremy play bumper boards? Kiters should always pass downwind of others.
If you get yarded, fall or whatever you go downwind into the water but not into the surfer, etc.

There was a run of geesefish on, a rare little known shallow water fish fond of uh, goosing bathers. This guy just got his too, boy can he jump!
