look for the spring issue i think of the kiteboarder. We were in ecuador in august september and we were riding next to hump backs and they were jumping next to me, i mean 15 feet away.....was an intense experience and also very unique...as i sat in the water with them and they circled around me. We did this 3 times on our trip. Two other riders where with me, plenty of people saw it and we have photos as well. Truely an amazing thing to be near a 45 foot animal that can jump that high.

Oh man I may have just missed you. I was there for 2 weeks in August in Santa Marianita and had a great time Kiting 14 out 17 days. I'm from there so I know the hump back you are reffering to. I did see a pair coming up and down while kiting, but I decided to stay as far as I could just in case :)
