Hello everyone. I will be coming down to Miami working in early january and will have 3 days free to kiteboard. I am just starting to ride upwind and am wondering what is a good place for me continue learning. I can drive down the keys if necessary. Somehwhere shallow would be good seeing as im still doing the occasional walk of shame. Thanks.

Your best bet for rapid progress if there is wind for those days would be some time on the Miami Flats. Miamikiteboarding.com runs out there. Adding shallow water, getting rid of waves, the need to stop to avoid the beach, bystanders, etc. should speed you on your way. Similar prospects are available in the Keys in Islamorada and Key West among other areas there. The beaches in Miami and even in Ft. Lauderdale can be crowded making walking back upwind difficult or even illegal in some cases with a kite aloft. The nearest beaches were that can regularly be done are a fair distance out of the area to the north like Jupiter. Hope you get some good wind.
