Hi--

I will be visiting family friends in Tierra Verde (near St. Petersburg) in November. It looks like there are a number of kite spots in the area that allow for riding in a variety of wind directions.

I'm wondering if I can get some info on what to expect that time of year so I can plan and pack accordingly--

Is there fairly reliable wind or do I have to get lucky to catch fronts/depressions moving through?

What are typical wind speeds, quivers, wetsuits for that time of year?

Is it possible to rent boards at any shops in the area?

Do most people ride twin tips or surfboards down there?

I'm an intermediate 210 lb kiter, have an 8m/12m/16m SLE quiver, and am used to riding the Gorge and the OR coast.

Appreciate any info!

yo,

November can be one of our windier months, but the wind is not reliable.

If you get a front , you'll get wind; if no front , then no wind.

You'll likely find it'll cool down to maybe 60's for a short period in the morning when they come thru so a shortie or a 3/2 full may be in order, however by the afternoon you'll be in your swim trunks when it warms to 70.

Kites, can be anywhere from 8m to 16m but most likely 12m wind.

There is no surf over here to speak of unfortunately, you must goto the east coast FL for that

have fun

I am sure you will get some wind.

You are gonna love it here for sure....one of the best places in the country for kiteboarding. We don't hype it too much here in the mags.

Bring the whole quiver.....you never know what your gonna get.

Most ride twin tips, but we do get some nice chest to head high waves on the stronger cold fronts out in the gulf. Not deep pacific swell but waves nonetheless.

You can rent boards at watersportswest.com (we don't have directionals for rent, but we do have surfboards for rent and bi directionals)

Take a trip while your here to another spot....

S. Florida
Panhandle

It's endless.......................................
