FloridaBoarder Comp

This will combine 3 events into 1. Each competitor will have to be in each event to win the BIG cash prize at the end. There will also be cash prizes going out to the top 3 in each event and top girl. This means that the person that can, ride stapless, course race, and freestyle is going to be the overall winner and get the CASH.

Location: St Pete Beach, FL Wind Direction: SSW To NNW
Time and Date: Any time after April 24th Wind Permitting starting at 8 AM
Pre Party: Thursday April 24th starting 7-10 pm
Entry fee: 50$

First Event:
8:00 AM Riders Meeting Strapless Downwinder (no leash)
-Depending on wind direction either meet Treasure Island or Ft. Desoto Park
-Riders must ride a strapless board and start on water
-Sequence 6 minutes 3 flags white 6 min 3 min blue red start
-Finish line will be between 2 cones in front of the undertow
-All riders must ride outside the swim zones
8:30 AM- Start for the downwind race
-Someone will be recording the finishes at the undertoow
-Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 finishers and top girl

Second Event: Course Racing
10:30 AM riders meeting
-Courses will be either a trapezoid or Windward/leeward twice around
-Starting line will be between a committee boat and a bouy
-Races will be 15 minutes long
-Riders will be allowed to protest if there is a foul on the course and all protests will be heard at the end of the day
-Starting sequence will be 3 minutes Blue flag up, 1 minute blue flag down and red flag down is the start
-Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 and top girl
11:00 AM First Start. there are 4 planned races and there will be a break after the first 2 races are completed

Third Event: Freestyle
12:30 riders meeting
-Riders will be grouped into three divisions, Pro, Amatuer and Women
-Each division will be judged by the other two divisions that are not riding
-Top 4 from each division will advance to finals
-Each heat will be 15 minutes long
1:30 start of amatuer division
-5 minutes between each heat
2:30 Start of amatuer mens finals followed by women and pros
Awards will go out to
-biggest whipe out
-biggest kiteloop
-young gun- under 18
-youngest grom
-top women
-old man river

Yo Gris its the guy who taught you, Mike Hall. I got sponsored by the under tow and they told me I could put on an event and they would hook us up with money and drinks. Cant go wrong with that...you down.

undertow is prolly one of the best spots on the gulf to hold a comp.
i'm sure you'll do a great job.
last years skimboard comp you put on was awsome.

Alright dude! Sounds like a plan... Now if we could just get some wind... What is the entry deadline? BTW- Congrats on the sponsor dude!

I am not too worried on trying to find a NW or SW in the next month. Last year we had great wind around this time and could have done a couple races.
The Pre party is going to be dead line for the entry fees. Riders will be provided with drinks, food, t shirt, , raffle tickets and games with cash prizes. There is going to be a 3 person rigging race where the winning team can win 100$
The question is, skim or surf board for the down winder?? I think I am going to skim it!
