I've read about launch sites that require PASA certification. How does one go about getting certified? I've had lessons at very reputable places, but no one ever mentioned anything about certification. It may be a good thing to have since I'm reading more and more on this forum about beach violations and pissing off the locals. This is probably going to open up a new can of worms about regulation of a sport ,that by it's very nature, seems to defy regulation. I've been snowboarding long enough to remember the prejudice and regulation that came with it. But the economic power of more and more snowboarders eventually won out.

Your instructor should have given you a card and knowen that if they are an IKO/PASA instructor. If you need an IKO card which is equivelent to a PASA card and recognized worldwide send me a PM

To my knowledge certification currently required only at Crandon Park in Miami. There are number of others areas thinking about doing this however. I wouldn't say it is a trend yet. If finding an instructor be sure to interview your prospects to try to arrange the best quality training you can. More about that at:

There are some parallels to the early days of snowboarding, aren't there?
