I was at east beach sunday and on my way in, and at east beach there were people handing out flyers about the proposed toll increases with the new toll schedule.

Has anyone seen this? I know it has been posted on here a few times, but some of the new tolls are extremely higher than the current tolls...

Any thoughts?

I saw it. I have the flyer. Bayway is supposedly ultimately to end up at 3.75 and FD to go to 7.25 (at least that's what the flyer they were handing out says).

Seems pretty outrageous to say the least. What is most outrageous, according to the handout, is that people that live in Bayway, Tierra Verde etc. may no longer be eligible for a yearly pass.
So, they are going to go from 15 bucks a year as a resident to what? - like 2 grand to leave and come back home once a day?
That just can't be right, is it?

I agree Scott, The proposed increases seem extreme. Granted, the .35 we pay to get into ft. desoto is probably well underpriced, but $1 or even a $1.50 is over a 400% percent increase!!

WTFM?

Well with gas prices how they are we already are taking a beating just getting to the beach. I'm just gonna do upwinders from Backside on East Beach days if that crap actually passes...I don't think it will, DeSoto would lose too many visitors and revenue from people using the boat ramps, campgrounds, etc.

Who wants to pay $20 to get there in back in tolls AND a campground fee???

Or why would a boater spend $20 to get there and back in tolls, $5 or $10 to park your boat trailer, $50 in gas, $30 for lunch just to use their boat ramps when they could just launch from a close public ramp for free, saving $25 - $30 and cruise over to Desoto in 10 Mins?

Why don't they just charge for parking at places like NB, the parking lot at EB, the Dog park, etc?

Agree completely Toby...

Next they'll force us to buy all of our food and drinks on the property ... along with Ft. Desoto (tm) brand charcoal.

Let's face it, Florida is becoming an amusement park.
