Is the Clearwater sensor accuarate? Seems like any time the wind has some North in it that spot is much windier than others. If so, where is a good riding spot around there for a newb(a couple months riding)? Would the wind be basically the same as Honeymoon Island?

I live in N. Tampa and really don't want to make the drive unless I can confirm some wind. Thanks!

That sensor is usually pretty accurate.
Also it does tend to blow better up there on due Norths.
I don't know about the "best" spot.
I would bring a couple bucks and take the trolley back after a short downwinder.

Yeah that sensor is pretty spot on and not too far from Honeymoon, although there is no great place to ride near Honeymoon on a north unless you want to hike it a bit or get a boat ride to the north end.

Watched the wind build this morning to about 20. Gabe and myself hustled up to Clearwater to do a downwinder to IRB only to get a shift to NE which stopped us in our tracks. We were suited up and ready to go when the switch happened. As bummed as we were, I guess it was better than the switch happening while on the water. Can't catch a break.

When the wind is north, like Scott said it is usually better up this way. Anywhere from IRB north to Clearwater Beach catches it pretty good. South of Walsingham Road is where the bend occurs and can get pretty sketchy south of there.

What a weak winter thus far.

That's a good point Steve made about the "bend".
On due Norths it can really suck south of it.
Strong cold front is coming. ;)
