I had no idea about how bad things have become, but the maintenance dredging of Boca Inlet that has been going on more or less continuously since 1971 and likely before that has seriously fallen behind.

As a result, at low tide reportedly there is a water depth in the inlet channel of about 1.5 ft.!!! Lots of boats have grounded and sustained damage to date. The inlet MAY officially be closed however regardless of the official position, at low tide it is closed ALREADY to many vessels by reported information!

They may or may not get around to dealing with it before the fall and close of turtle nesting season.

In the meantime, consider using Boynton Inlet to the North or Hillsboro Inlet to the south for boating.
