Alot of models are showing a hurricane forming in the Carribean and moving somewhere near Florida by early next week, Aug 19th or so. Not wishing for landfall of course, but maybe a run of wind and waves if it gets close enough. There is a site I check regularly that monitors these things pretty closely and puts it in terms I can understand.

CFLSurf.com a great site for Florida surfing regarding swells and weather events. Where there is swell, there is likely some wind with it. Both sounds nice right about now.

Are we finally through the hump????? I'm dying for some action.

Anyone getting any lucky sessions lately? Can't wait for cold fronts to come through in Oct/Nov when the real windy season starts. Haven't kited in about 2 weeks :(.

I don't know dude, even at 84 hours out its still not even forecast to hit the leeward islands yet. the odds of any kinda track for this thing coming within 1000 miles of us are slim to little. I would not continue to torture myself with wishful thinking for wind cause you are just setting yourself up at this point. wait for NHC to give you a "cone" within a radius of 5 days then maybe you can start windwishing...

another system has formed alot closer to us in the yucatan but it doesn't look like above TS strength anytime soon and it looks like it is headed to TX anyways

My Prediction:
I see somewhere around Jacksonville getting hit on Thursday Aug 23rd with a class 3 hurricane.
I'm no Steve Jerve but that's what I think.

Sounds good. Jayson is usually pretty good. Oddly enough for those of you who know my post history, I am gonna go with whatever Josh Linker says on this one.

Whatever Josh says is what I will bank on ;)

A likely scenario, however, I am gonna go against that and predict the opposite of whatever Josh Linker says on this one...

Everyone make a prediction on this storm coming off Africa and put up a six pack of imported beer. Prediction must be a major city (no generalities) and be made by end of day Tuesday (tomorrow). Winner take all.

I am. I say whatever Josh Linker says. :p
As the time nears, I will just quote him off of Baynews9.

My prediction is a bit premature but I will go out on a limb for now and predict that it will not hit the US and get caught in a approaching front that will guide it towards Bermuda. Right now to many variables to consider but this is my prediction. It will hit as a Class 2 Hurricane.. I will put a case of Pabst on it!

Let the scrutiny begin. :)
