Where exactly are the Key West Flats that have been discussed on this forum. I am driving down to Key West on Sunday with gear and zodiac and would like to get a better idea of where to go, where to launch zodiac from, and distance to the sites that are good to go to by boat. GPS locations to launch sites or chart directions would be beneficial.

Thanks for any info that can be provided.

If you are looking for shallow water, useable winds from most directions, minimal waves AND you have a boat you don't need GPS coordinates, necessarily. It is easier than that, go into Florida Bay, find a likely looking sand bar out of the tens of thousands of them, say a few hundred feet downwind of a channel in navigatable water for your inflatable and have at it. This opens up most of the Florida Keys, all 100 mile plus length of them.

It would be good to avoid the mangrove cays to avoid hassling birds motivating the Fish and Game folks to hassle us.

The Kite House is an operation for folks that don't want to bother with bringing a support boat. If you have your own you could start in Biscayne Bay and work down to Key West if you wanted to.
