Congrats to Billy who placed 2nd in the slicks comp at the Triple S in Hatteras. He took 3rd overall against some of the top talent in the country.

Today we booked his airfare to Cabarete. He will be there for the last week of June to compete in the PKRA competition.

Thanks to everyone who donated to make this happen!

Tiffany Schrader is going with him and has promised to keep me updated daily on the status of the event. I will relay this info as soon as received.

Well the PKRA events kicked off yesterday in Cabarete. No scoop yet but there is going to be some good wind for Bill.

The wind looks good but it will be mostly off shore. Should make for a interesting event.

Does that mean he is head to head against Meira? Or that Billy and Meira are the two that advance from that heat?

this seems to be the "rules" for early trials.

VII FRESTYLE HEATS AND ELIMINATION FORMAT

21. The Race Director, will make the decision as to the suitability of the conditions for running heats.

22. There will be a qualifier round(s) at the start of the contest if the total number of riders exceeds 32 men and or 16 women. The qualifier rounds will be on dingle or single elimination format depending on time.

23. The qualifier Freestyle rounds (trials) will be run in a single elimination format with the best 2 advancing. When time allows the trials will be run in Dingle or modified Dingle format. (Riders eliminated in the trials, could still participate in the second discipline contest).

24. There shall be a double elimination for the freestyle discipline of the main event if conditions are suitable.

25. The entire single and double elimination ladders will be run using the man on man format.

25a. Rider's names shall be entered on the elimination ladder for the first elimination series according to the event seeding list.

Looks like Billy advanced! wth is a modified dingle format?

That means that he is head to head against Rui Meira in heat #5A

Well Meira is 6th in the world, so if Billy gets past him, that'd be awesome.;)

I hate to post this but Meira won the heat. Anyhow, a thumbs up to Billy!

Oh well. At the 'tow at his presentation party, I was guessing he was about 8th in the world. Next time he'll draw a guy 10th or higher, kick his butt, and move on!
Anyone else want to do the fund raiser gig again? I am in, if so.

I think Billy is in his double elimination heat on the water right now. Is that how this thing works? Kind of confusing...

Wouldn't it be great for him to beat Yan Carlos Paulino in his own back yard?!?!?!

Billy moved on!!! YEAH!!!

Looks like he may have a shot at redemption against Meira if he wins tomorrow, can't figure out how this is gonna work...

Sweet. The rules mentioned possible double elimination, but I didn't have a clue. Sweet....

"Meanwhile, Billy Parker’s (US, Flexifoil) comeback was spoiled by current world number 6 Rui Meira (Naish, Portugal), although the Heat was a closely contested match, a switch slim from Meira sealed the win."

Sounds like Billy did pretty well.

Billy has beaten two competitors in this round. He is on the water now against Manuel Rondon. If he wins this heat he gets another shot at Rui Meira.

Billy won!!!!!!!!
Now he is up against Meira (#6 in the world) next.

There are 9 riders left (world rankings: #1, #28, #26, #7, #9, #8, #5, #19) and BILLY (unranked for now)

Unfortunately it looks like Meira edged Billy out again. :(

Not too shabby performance though, Bill made us ALL proud!!! :)

"Alvaro Onieva was presented a Sportsmanship Award while Billy Parker received the H2O Audio Most Improved Rider award. "

and

"Finally, the last games of the day saw Rui Meira going up against Billy Parker (Flexifoil, US) who have been busy fighting his way through while Meira was patiently waiting for an opponent. Clearly overpowered in the Heat, Parker struggled to land some clean moves and hold the bar but nonetheless landed a big kiteloop handle pass and front mobe but was not enough to beat Meira who stomped some regular and switch slims, mobe 5 and a front mobe. . "

and "Billy Parker (United States, Flexifoil) thrashed local kiteboarder Yancarlos Paulino (StarKite) with more powered moves while Dominican champ Manuel Rondon (EH) pounded countryman Carlos Martinez (StarKite) with more power and technical moves including a rear hand, toeside grab kiteloop handle pass and heelside backroll with frontside 540, all in the same Heat."
