The following information has been reproduced from Chris Kjos' site:
http://www.kitesurfusa.com/

1. Only launch & fly your kite when designated beach area is free and clear of any people or bystanders that would be in the way of flying kite lines. A spotter or helper must be avaialble to help safely launch kite and keep area momentarily clear.

2. Only launch from shore when wind directions are side shore (north-northeast- southeast-south) this would allow for quick exits from the shoreline where swim area violations would not occur.

3. Keep all kite lines removed from the beach area (wound up) when kites are not being used.

4. Launch kite quickly from a clear beach area (100'coned area if necessary) and proceed to waters edge immediatly to exit from shoreline.

5. NO continuous Beach kite flying. Only brief launching and landing of kite with a two man crew to raise & lower kite safely followed by immediate removal of lines from beach.

6. If Watersports Unlimited concession is closed on any inclimate or bad weather day, Beach Patrol could enforce the no Kiting Rule for that day, due to unavailable rescue & chase services.

7. Kiteboarding from Ft. Lauderdales’ South Beach will only be allowed when conditions allow for minimal risk to beach goers, and when Watersports Unlimited can oversee and supervise kiteboarders with rescue vessel and safety advice.

8. All Kiteboarders, whether association members or not, will check in with
Watersports Unlimited (954-763-4020) prior to setting up kites for a safety
breifing and determination of appropriate wind, ocean, and weather conditions.

9. Kiteboarding from South Beach non motorized sailing area is NOT recommended for beginning unsupervised kiteboarders, due to a limited 100 yard exit & enter corridor. If a beginner or novice attempts to exit beach area without supervision, they are risking entering swimming areas, endangering swimmers, and causing the banning of Kiteboarding at this location. All beginners should attempt to learn at wide uncrowded beaches with a helper. Helper should be experienced with kite launching, landing, and be a downwind rescue assistant. If kiteboarding lessons are desired, seek a kitesurf school, experienced kite boarder, or contact
Watersports Unlimited kitesurfUSA kitesurf School at 954-763-4020 or visit website WWW.KitesurfUSA.com for information.
