weeee woooo weeee woooo

Um, I might be pointing out the obvious but the point of that video IS that it is stupid and dangerous, is it not? Pointing that out is like saying someone in the JackAss movie could get hurt.

no kidding

I retract my earlier post then and apologize. Yours came across as being critical so I simply supported my opinion. I think the video posting was someone who thought it was cool, if I am wrong then once again I apologize.

I watched that vid about a month ago. It's part of a European ad for K-Swiss shoes. I don't get it. Seems like no biggie to me.

If Billy were doing it, no one would worry. It's his body at risk and he did it without taking out a baby stroller, so who really cares?

Isn't he just landboarding basically? I was more upset over the vid where he cussed at the 75 year old windsurfer (anyone remember that one?)
here, fishy .. fishy

invisible

landboarding without wheels. thats what makes it dangerous. Good thing they are not on the water WITH wheels or there would be a serious bust going down.

I'm always amazed at the people atract by our sport. Everyone wants to say he does an Extreme sport but is really just a whiner. Can we think of anything else to criticize, complain or just say he's bad and I'm good. When this sport first started, and the boys were getting yanked around by their kites, I'm sure all of the pole boardrs sayd " thats dangerus, they might get hurt" Girls, LI-TEN UP. If you don't want to do it...don't. If you are worried about kids doing it, don't let yours. I see dudes at e baech kiting with a skate board, barefeeted, no shirt no helmet haling ass. Now thats dangerous...but it looked really fun.

Paz bros,
Jaime

thats cause we have all these old men in the sport. crotchety old men who are out of shape and grumpy cause they can't throw it down!

heads up, shuffleboard is dangerous too. you could slip on the sand or trip on the gutter.

I just posted from work. Now that's risky .......

6 years ago, it was dangerous, imo. Now, for the most part, it's more safe than jumping on the trampoline and definitely, bar far, less risky than jetskiing or wakeboarding (for the average rider with a few good lessons).

I use to have kitemares on a regular basis. It was just expected and accepted.
I have had one in 2 years, now and I was pissed (equipment failure).
I am glad kitemares are rare for banning reasons and public perception. I kind of enjoyed having them around though, for other reasons.

I agree, who cares what Ruben does.

I love the fact that people think this is an extreme sport. Yeah, so extreme that you can ride 8 hours straight without even getting tired!

It's easy to make it extreme (riding unhooked, riding in 25+, etc) but in light wind it's about as dangerous as golf and the only muscle you need is your sphincter to hold that mis-timed bowel movement in.

But don't cross lines in 9-10mph winds 50 yards from shore or the kite police will get you!

He looks confused. Hope he figures it out.

LOL... Hopefully he can make it Saturday.

Whatta think I was doing on this thread, invisible? I meant most of what I said, but I said it totally hoping for a hook-up (here.... fishy, fishy). These guys are just to "skiddish" to hook 'em. Too smart.

Basically a pic of someone flying a kite right in the middle of town. Turned out to be a false alarm so the SP were not called.

No joke I've observed a old low AR kite of around 15M flying from a parking lot along I275 near 54Ave in St Pete for three days in a row now. It was just gently moving back and forth at the top of the window, and the wind was low like 10 to 12kts, but damn man it did look sketchy. I resisted the temptation to call the kite safty patol though. If I could have spoken to the pilot I'd have told him it looked sketchy, but beyond that it is the opperators responsibility.

I don't believe you. You are making this crap up!!

invisible
03-14-2007, 01:10 PM
Yeah I already introduced myself, nice kid and he can fly, jump, and relaunch the kite well but needs lessons and some more gear before he can get out on the water. Any instructor who wants to donate some free time to this kid would be doing the right thing imho...

No flames plz. We all know what the deal is.

Skyway Scott
03-14-2007, 02:23 PM
LOL... Okay then. I saw him first. It was the weirdest kite sighting of ALL time, for me anyway.

03-14-2007, 07:03 PM
how did he launch and land?

invisible
03-14-2007, 07:32 PM
LE down, run towards kite, get it on it's back, and launch. Landed by crashing LE down. Nothing unusual.

Kamikazi
03-14-2007, 07:44 PM
Nothing unusual? Hot launching a big kite in a parking lot. I think thats a little unusual. Was he in a parking lot? May be I just made that up?

Landboarding is a very popular sport.

I'd prob recommend finding an open field rather than a paved lot.. but.. who the hell am I to give someone advice? :)
