Here's your chance to win! Guess the winning riders finishing time of the X-rated Extreme down wind race from Jupiter to Ft. Lauderdale and win a Neilpryde 3000 series shorty!

The Race is being held Saturday, December 9th (tomorrow) and totals 56 miles of racing down the coast (direct measurement along the coast). Wind conditions are expected to range from 20-25 miles per hour and seas will be between 7-11 feet. For more info on the race go to www.xratedkiteboarding.com or http://www.fksa.org/viewtopic.php?t=3358.

Guesses must be placed online (FKSA forum, this thread) before 9:30 a.m., December 9th. Times should be given to the minute only and the lucky devil with the closest guess will be riding in Pryde! Place guesses early, no using of the same finishing times.

NEILPRYDE Water Wear… Nothing moves like it, Nothing feels like it.

Good luck!

2 hours, 53 minutes

Great idea Kent!

I bought one of these shorties from Raul in 2001 at the first kite event in Florida in St. Pete. It is real comfortable, warm and very serviceable under the demands of kiting. Great prize!

Here's a question, wonder how many folks will show up in board shorts and rash guards to enjoy the 71 F high and 25 to 30 mph (+?) winds for 2 hr. 53 min. to 5 hours (+ ?) tomorrow? Could be a good time to get a NP wetsuit!

just to be on the safe side... Neil was kidding about the 5K from Pryde, but... come on where is the Best Kiteboarding of old? Alex... it's only 5K?

I haven't even seen any planes flying around with banners or anything... what gives?

Okay, here's my guess: 3 hours 29 minutes.

Here's how I came up with it.
1st leg of (33miles * 1.2) as figure 20% more riding due to zig zag course from side on shore wind = 39.6 miles ridden / (30 mph riding speed * .8 efficiency from riding over waves) = 1.625
2nd leg is similar except 1.3 as zig zagging more due to side shore wind, and a little slower riding going downwind.

So:
Leg 1: (33*1.2)/(30*.80) = 1.625
Leg 2: (25*1.3)/(25*.70) = 1.857
Total 3.482 or 3 hours 29 minutes

Holy crap I spend way too much time in the cube....

Good luck all, sounds like a blast..... :D :D :D :D

You should PM Kent your contact info so that he can hook you up with your booty.

You were only 2 minutes off. Andy's time was 2 hours 26 minutes. That works out to an average of 24 mph. That's a good speed to maintain over almost 60 miles in the open ocean, waves and all.
