Can I get a little help reading the winds and tides for Matanzas Inlet. Looks like there will be some wind but I understand you have to consider the current and tides. Will be here through Sunday 11.26.06.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!!!

Lets see.....31 people reviewed this post and I received -0- responses.....hmmm, If you ever decide to visit us over in St.Pete/Tampa community, you'll find everyone there is willing to help.

I don't think any of the St. Augustine crew visits this forum. I only remember one rider making one single post on here from S.A.

A post on the Extreme Kites forum (in St. Augustine) would have received a response quickly. Sorry you didn't get a reply, Gary. I just noticed this post myself, the title didn't grab my attention at first.

At Matanzas you want STRONG outgoing tides. The tides are affected by the moon phase, so full and new moons are best. Get there about an hour after the tide starts to run out and it is usually good for several hours. Unlike here (St. Pete) where east winds are commonly an early riser deal this time of year, there the wind usually picks up as the day progresses. So, an outgoing tide in the afternoon with forecast NE winds is a good bet.

What is weird is that it is flat water in there. I am use to opposing current causing chop (like at PaG). It can be truly epic at Matanzas when the tide is running. Thing is, the tide is SO fast, that sometimes relaunching a kite or bodydragging back to a board can be a challenge.
