47 years ago they were innovating for snow kiting!? Well, maybe. I am not sure if they were working on resistance snow training or dialing in for a ski run down the side of Mount Everest. Ideas out there?

This is the current version of this old device. I lost the original image posted on kiteforum and linked here. Old files often vanish there, mores the pity.

Wow. 47 years ago, they didnt know that they were the pioneers of snowkiting. Maybe it was by accident; instead, they decided to improve their skiing.
At this time(late 50's early 60's), the Russians were already in space. Americans, on the other hand, were busy skiing!!!

Maybe these guys were cosmonauts rehearsing for post-Spunik flights? Someone put up an incredible video clip of a guy skidding down the Eiger, (remember the Clint Eastwood flick?).

Yeah, he's cool, but did you see this?

The north face of the Eiger from Kleine Scheidegg just outside the old hometown of Grindelwald, CH

That is incredible, looks like he skidded down the north face of the Eiger? That's about a 6000 ft. drop. Glad he managed to miss all those rock exposures when he touched down. Catching an edge and spinning out doesn't sound like much fun.
