The wind does look good for Thrusday! Bummer that it can't be on a weekend, but I agree that it's probably best to get it in the bag before it gets too late. It looks like the wind will be a bit more side-on than the last time we came over. This should make for a much faster finish, but not quite as broad. The nice part is that riders will be able to use more "normal" sized kites than before. Looking forward to seeing you over there.

What are you trying to imply Kent??? :D

The only problem that I forsee is transportation. Seeing as most newbies that would normally come out on the weekend won't be able to take a day off, we will probably have a shortage of drivers. Anyone have any ideas as to what we might try and do as a remedy for this issue? It is a pretty long ride up and back if we have to go pick up cars depending on traffic it could take 1 1/2 to 2 hours... Add having just done a 25 mile downwinder to the equation and all we are really gonna want is a cold beer or two or fifteen, not a long car ride!!! :D

can't do it if it's on a week day.

no missing school for me.. need to get honor roll and exempt all of my exams. (first since like 2nd grade) already had 2 absenses.. far enough behind.

Wish you guys the best this Thursday. No way I can get out of work with a huge XXX-Mart rollout scheduled for Thursday. Will be thinking about you guys... Just bought a brand new Switchblade 2 I've been dying to ride so I might just drive down this weekend anyways...

Good luck to everyone~

Will we start a little later if the wind is west at 9am thursday morning? Otherwise the race is a reach and not a downwinder...

That's what makes this race unique - half way reach, half way downwind tack...

Chris,

What forecasts are you all using over there? It seems as though both windguru and noaa are still good. While I would prefer to do it on a weekend, I guess that we have to get it while the getting good. Windguru is showing something for Tuesday of next week also, but this is a long way out. If we can get 15 to 20, it's all good to me.

When will you all make the final call so that we can make arrangements? Thanks.

Right now we are in a holding pattern. The forecast is still good with most models. We will look at it again at the 4:30 update and know more.
Luckily it seems it will be a West to WNW wind which is a faster and easier run than a NW or NNW.

AS OF 12:30 PM Tuesday

NOAA:
Thursday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1pm. Partly cloudy, with a high near 74. West wind between 10 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph

Ikitesurf:
showing 19 knots from the West

Wunderground
Thursday
West winds 15 to 20 knots...shifting to the northwest. Seas 5 to 7 feet

Actually, it looks like the wind is improving on wind guru... 21 knots from the NW on Thursday at 7 am and holding at 17 knots until 4 pm. This forecast is similar to what we had a few weeks back during practice, but it's a bit more NW than N, which is good.

When is the final call?
