View Full Version : Boosting when racing downwind

Has anyone had a chance to test if the boosts buy any advantage when racing downwind? [Especially those "floaty" boosts on bow kites].

The jump itself (when intentionally arranged to be low and long) sure covers a lot of distance fast... but there is some time when the rider sets up for the jump (i.e. goes _across the wind_ losing precious seconds while others charge _downwind_). So the overall outcome is still unclear to me...

Can anyone (who tried it try it back-to-back with a partner, one charges downwind and another boosts) share the experience?

Staying on the water is fastest, although getting a little controled air is inevitable, u lose speed when jumpin.

I think that jumping will slow you down..

you don't go to fast downwind when you jump...

like BMX racing.. the less you jump the faster you are.

unless you throw some kiteloops into your jump then probably not any fast or possibly slower
