I just came across a well illustrated reference of terrain modified winds. These land conditions can cause some nice localized strong winds through venturi funneling effects.

They explain how this contributes to nice winds in the Gorge, the Straits of Juan de Fuca and Gibraltar.

Any riders off the Pillars of Hercules???
