I finaly got an intern position approved at my office. I thouught I would post the position here in case anyone knows of anyone needing a job.

IT Intern

Lochner, a nationwide civil engineering consulting firm, is seeking an IT Intern for its Clearwater, FL office. The hours are part time, approximately 20 hours per week, and the hours will be flexible to adjust to student’s school schedule.

The position is responsible for the following –

 Inventory all computer equipment with asset tags
 Assist in rewiring network switches and patch panels
 Possible visits to other offices for minor IT work
 Organize software and hardware and inventory
 Assist with new employee setup, username, email, phone, and software needs
 Assist and/or provides first level support and resolution for application, hardware, and communication problems; logs and answers user inquiries
 Installs, configures, and tests desktop hardware and software
 Partners with other departments to implement new programs or provide technical assistance (e.g. providing data analysis and reporting solutions necessary to support business needs)
 Ensures system integrity by maintaining system parameters, testing, evaluating, analyzing, and monitoring overall performance on a daily basis
 Coordinates with corporate IT resources to understand and lessen the impact of software releases
 Aids with production and test runs and maintains files and libraries of the computer programs
 Check Backups daily and bring home previous day’s backup
 File restores
 Check on secondary hard drive backup
 Hardware firmware updates
 Hardware Driver updates
 Software updates
 Other responsibilities as needs arise

A good understanding and familiarity with Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Professional and Office XP, as well as Ethernet networking and IP.

windows/cisco/etc..?

i enjoy my current employment situation but always looking to step up in the world..

I wish Bryan.. It took me two years to get this position approved. It started as a full time position and was knocked down to an intern position. :evil:

ya.. im pretty much an upper level pc / router dork. year and years experience supporting windows pcs / web servers / active directory w/ thousands of users.. now im in the cisco dept and configure routers and switches all day for frame relay customers... as well as a slew of other crap they throw at me.

my group actually has about 4-6 cisco dedicated functional engineers, but im not one of them, im a pay-per-use functional engineer

But seriously, I have been working on getting my real estate license, passed my end of pre-licensing course exam on Sunday before wakeboarding and am now cramming to pass the State exam. Good luck on your intern search!!!
