I just wanted to say sorry to everyone that has been wating for wind lo these many days. Through my actions and my words I have insured no good riding wind for at least six weeks.... You see I finally broke down and called Scotty and ordered some new gear. I got a 12M Waroo in the coolest blue, gold and silver color combo and a Glide. I just got back from a road trip and ripped the boxes open like a six year old on christmas morning. So you see I'm so stoked to get out and ride that there will certainly be no wind until late September, unless I get called out of town for a while, in which case it will blow for the duration of my absence. Brothers forgive me for my transgressions against the collective

Glad it got there, I really messed up the address the first go around.

For anyone wanting wind, just so you guys know, St. Augustine is the biggest wind mystery I have ever encountered. One day (last night) it blew solid 16 to 20 until sunset. The very next, I am out behind the shop attempting to take pics of the Flexi Atom in flight. It was blowing solid 3 at times 5. Luckily I had a Flexi team rider on a land board to get the pics. So, for anyone thinking it always blows here, it doesn't. It's a coin toss for sure. When it does blow tho, it blows. Basically an all or none type of deal.

This time of year sucks BIG time in St. Pete for wind, but no town has it better than St. Pete 8 months of the year, IMO. Every single wind direction is covered within a 15 minute drive (technically within a 4 minutes drive if you start at the ranger's station) and on Wests, there are almost limitless choices, and of course, the trolley is accessible for some killer downwinders.

Good wind is just around the corner. I know when it does pick up, I will be riding St. Pete as much as possible. It'll be cool to watch Toby pull off his first 15 footer, Lori do a backroll, and E-bone pull a Hello Kitty to blind (among other things). I was hoping you guys got a NW seabreeze, but it doesn't sound like it

Bobber,

I'm not on call next weekend ... Don't you need to make a trip to ... um .... Orlando or something?? :P

I could use a session at OWC to perfect my board skills, but I think if I accept your kind offer my wonderful, long suffering and supportive wife would have my stuff on the front lawn when I got home. So in the interest of domestic tranqulity I'll have to pass.

Hey Scott,
I wanted to thank you for helping me select the best gear for me, given my budget. Even though I could hear the phone ringing off the hook in the background you took the time to talk through my options with me, and made some great alternate suggestions. I was aware that the extreme crew is prone to practical jokes when it comes to shipping, but you still got me by packing my 12M Waroo in a 12M Slingshot Link box. I thought I might get a nice Demo ride on the link before sending it back. Good one I owe Ya.

Nah.... We recycle all of our boxes, so that wasn't meant to be a joke.
Ask E-bone what a REAL practical joke is. (I don't think he can answer that on here without the FCC putting him in jail tho)

I keep it pretty low key myself. I mailed Colin something with some of my lunch and cookies in it for him. :D (on a Friday... so it was still fresh on Monday)
Usually not enough time to do stuff like that.

Glad it got there and that you like it. Now you just need wind. (Solid 10 on a Glide and you're good to go 8) )

It's actually blowing 18 out of the North here now here (cold front), so it's downwinder time. Wish I could bring the wind back there or bring St. Pete here. Neither can be done, however.

Yeah Scott, I can't wait for those days to come either! I also can't wait to see the progressions of all of the kiters who are just starting and sharing stories and catching up with everyone at the Skyway, DeSoto park and our other launches this winter!!!

Missed the wind today, Steve, Tammy, Amber and I were wakeboarding and once we realized it was blowing, we had to rush off to make it to our previous dinner plans. Hope all had a great and safe sesh!!!

If anybody's interested, I'm thinking about hitting OWC tomorrow, Tues., got the day off. Could be wind in the evening though.. if that's the case I'll stay here and ride for free.

Toby,
Your old 16M Fuel had me juiced at times on Sunday afternoon. I rode for a couple hours straight.

Was that the Day glow yellow kite that I sold you Toby?

You betcha! That kite is absolutely incredible as far as durability is concerned. It is DEFINITELY deceptive as to how powerful it is! Glad to hear it is still going strong, that kite was Chris' before it was mine and Scott Fears' before that so it has paid for itself 4-5 times over!
