The models are doing their rounds and so should we ...

Todd and Mila are staffing the Cabrinha booth. Bic surfboards and windsurfing gear are also on display.

Some of the gear for 2005 is on display with lots more to be found at the Cabrinha website at: http://cabrinha.com/

Todd and Mila filled me in on the new Cabrinha innovation, Recon 2. The control bar system is intended to
severely reduce and even eliminate the hazards of the most dangerous part of kiteboarding, launch and landing.

Mila rigged up to show off the RECON 2.

Thanks to Todd, I now know what to call that rubber sticky thing that holds your chicken loop on to
your harness hook ... the retaining pin. Thanks Todd!

Full size: Full Size - Mila Rips! (http://www.fksa.org/gallery/view_photo.php?full=1&set_albumName=album32&id=Mela_VR_Rips_sl)

Mila is a prime kiteboarder in her own right. She is shown above landing a jump at KiteForGirls and
togged out for action at the Islamorada Invitational competitions earlier this year.

The RECON balls for reverse launch are still present.

This is brand NEW however, the Launch/Ride Mode setting. If you set the red plate for "LAUNCH" all you
need to do to depower your kite is to "tap-out" or simply press the bar up against the stop. OR, if the
wind is above around 12 knots, JUST LET GO of the bar and I am told the kite will automatically be depowered.
If the red plate is in the Ride Mode, you can't "tap-out" but to activate your depower just lift the red plate
up in the direction of the kite.

Changing to Riding Mode

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album32/b8.sized.jpg
switch it back to Launch Mode and ... TAP-OUT to KITE DEPOWER!

Need to reconnect the release offshore, no problem, just reconnect over the line for an easy approach.
I am told it is best to deal reconnecting the metal components once you are onshore.

http://www.fksa.org/albums/album32/b12.sized.jpg
Twisted lines, easy just PULL the bar back and the tangles will vanish. No more bar spinning needed.

The new Powerlock mechanism in place. I understand that the RECON 2 is undergoing some final pre-release
improvements pending distribution in December 2004. A nominal quantity of units have been recalled pending
distribution in December.

So, Dana gets a painful knee and Damien gets the KGB Girls?! Well, Damien did just win the
King of the Air Hang Time contest in Maui on a Nitro. So, why not try to improve international relations?
