I am heading out to rooker on saturday. I will have a 14 ft john boat. But if you want to go out there you can launch from sunset beach and kite out there. Its probally 2 to 2.5 miles cross wind. For those of you that havent been privilaged enough to go out there it is a kiters paradise. SW wind means flat on the inside possible swell on the outside. You can ride from the cove to the gulf through a pass that was cut in the island. I think I am going to name that pass "kiters pass".

Nothing at all, EB is my favorite spot to ride because the water is so flat... I just tend to like areas that won't get as crowded because I am still not to a level where I could say I am not a "beginner" anymore and since there has been such a wind lull and I know EB will be crowded Saturday, I try to steer clear so the whining about newbies doesn't start  ...I'll be at EB this afternoon though Danny and maybe on Sat!!! :D Hope I see you out there!

Also the wind is supposed to clock further west on sat making eb no good. I personaly dont like eb when it gets past ssw. After ssw the wind on the beach and about 20 to 50 yards out gets fleuky. Rooker is also closer to my house its a better riding spot than eb I think. Personally its my favorite because you can ride it on any wind direction. When Josh and I were out there the wind went due east for awhile and never really got that fleuky. Plus can you go from flat to waves without ever touching land try doing that at EB. To me rooker is way better than EB. EB is still one of my favorite spots though.

Toby you could bring your boat, your girl, your dogs and what ever else you want to bring and make a day out of it. Rooker is a great place ask josh

Probably too choppy/windy on Saturday for the boat there all day. The John Boat can be pulled right up on shore though... Plus the boat is an I/O and if there is not a channel right up to the island, I'll DEFINITELY have issues...If you can get us out there (Steve and Amber will probably be with me) then I'll probably join you...otherwise, I'll just hit up EB. Let me know...

Well toby the middle part of the island is pretty deep. You could actually bring the boat all the way to shore. The 2 ends of the island are like eb flat and shallow. So you can drive your boat up to shore.

little choppy on the inside but still a fun place to ride.

also the deep water makes it a pain for water relaunching and if you loose your board way back it's a little hard to get back to it, becuase you can't stand up and walk to it like at EB and theres also barly any current i think.

other then that it's an awesome place

It ended up being to rough for the boat. So what I did was started at sunset and tacked up wind to crystal beach and then out to rooker.

so I take it that boats and wind don't mix?

they had a john boat, witch i can assume don't do to well in wind with a bunch of chop.

No, you need a V , bowrider or opean ocean vessel
