The start of the 12 mile circumnavigation of Key West in some particularly unforgiving conditions. It was a rare, short section of the course when the paddlers weren't assailed by head winds, opposing current and/or nasty chop. This may have gone on for over 5 hours in some cases. It was a test of will and determination.
