Thanks for the news Noel! You guys are really spreading riding/kiting operations through the central and lower Keys. Hawks Cay is an unusual resort in the lower keys on Duck Key at mile marker 61 on the Florida Straits side. It was originally built as a sporting lodge in the 1960's with West Indies inspired architecture and landscaping. Numerous expansions have happened over time with more hotel rooms, condos, single family homes, a marina, dock store and dry boat storage on the island. I first started staying there in 1995 and went there on my first Keys kite trip in 1998 for Fantasy Fest. With the man-made lagoon, various pools, encompassing canal and breakwater opposite one of Flaglers old bridges it is an intriguing setting. There are flats just up keys from the island accessible by kiteboat for riding. We stayed there for quite a few years for Fantasy Fest being available close to the event and less than an hour from Key West.

The Keys have a natural elevated air pressure gradient providing about 5 kts. more wind on average when it is on when compared to the mainland. The Florida Reef Tract miles offshore and shallows of Hawks Channel closer to the Keys provide for fairly flat water much of the year. Florida Bay on the otherside of US Highway 1 with endless flats, shallows and mangrove cays offers prime flatwater riding in westerly winds via sea taxi. So with boat support as the Otherside is offering you can have prime riding in all wind directions there.
