We would like to know about how is the wind there, which spots do you have, when the wind starts blowing more less... So EVERYTHING!!!!

We also need information about a cheap rent or location because we havenĀ“t still anywhere to sleep  Do you know any place near the beach???

The wind in Ft. Lauderdale is about the same as in Miami. Wind, if it comes in October may well come with cold fronts or tropical systems. Neither are that easy to predict this far in advance. I would look to http://www.srh.noaa.gov/mfl/ a day or so before your session to get an estimate of what might come about. Watch out for squalls as they can come with both types of weather systems. More about that at:

http://fksa.org/showthread.php?t=69
http://fksa.org/showthread.php?t=6734

Most of our spots have kiting restrictions due to the high population and long time that kiting has been going on here.

I would search for Pompano, LBTS and Delray on this site for more information about those areas and precautions. There is a small technical launch at the south end of Ft. Lauderdale Beach with more info about that at http://fksa.org/showthread.php?t=11451 You may want to fit in some road trips to Jupiter, Miami and the Keys for some different kiting locations and conditions if you can. There is tons of information about all these areas on this site.

I would use the search engines to try to find a hotel at a price and at a location to your liking in Ft. Lauderdale or Pompano Beach at http://www.expedia.com http://www.orbitz.com

Have a great trip and good winds!

You are welcome, hope it is a good trip for you. Will you be renting a car? If so, you may want to hit more spots than just Ft. Lauderdale. If you like waves Ft. Pierce and Jupiter about 1 1/2 and 1 hour north respectively can be very nice. Delray Beach about 45 minutes north of Ft. Lauderdale has smaller waves and a fairly large unguarded beach area for kiting. Then there is LBTS and Pompano about 10 to 20 minutes north of Ft. Lauderdale with riding areas you may want to checkout. In South Florida usually you need to stay at least 100 yards away from guarded beaches. This can reduce your riding options particularly in Ft. Lauderdale and some points south. Anyway, you may want to do a run to the Florida Keys for some flat water kiting. Also the wind is usually about a few knots stronger down there when the wind is on. There is no assurance there will be rideable wind but with luck there will be. Also, if you are renting a car, where you stay becomes less critical and you can find a better value for your money. For rental homes I would checkout these two sites:

http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/florida/
http://www.rentals.com/Florida/

If you aren't renting a car, then finding a rental home for a reasonable price in Ft. Lauderdale near the beach will become less likely. You may want to consider a different city, although the price often goes up the closer you are to the ocean in many areas. Otherwise I would look at rentals in Deerfield, Pompano Beach, Ft. Lauderdale and Dania in inland areas to reduce the price.

Welcome to South Florida ! We are locals and will be riding in the Keys, specifically in Islamorada, at Whale Harbor 10/15 - 10/18 if you make it down that way, it is the best area in South Florida to ride. Also will be riding before and after at Matheson Hammock in South Miami and 87th Street on the ocean side in Surfside the rest of October when it's windy. We also take the boat out to Stiltsville off of Key Biscayne which is an amazing flat water spot.

Hope we all get a lot of windy days and that that you have a great time while you're here.

If you need any local info shoot me an email:

See you out there,
