ATTENTION AREA KITEBOARDERS- There is a large colony of Black Skimmers (threatened bird species) nesting at Sand Key Park. We don't want to do anything that might scare the birds, so please avoid kiting at Sand Key Park for a while to not ruffle anyone's feathers.

Thanks Steve for the heads up.

Unfortunately for the Skimmers, all the colonies were wiped out due to TS Debbie.

Audobon society has confirmed this and has given the green light to ride.

Keep in mind, Sand Key is a life guarded beach with clear swim zones.

Kiters should ride south of the lifeguard tower and stay out of the swim area.

Peace!
