KiteWing adds a new dimension to kiteboarding

The KiteWing is easier to learn and handle than windsurfing or kitesurfing gear. It’s also very safe for the people around, since there are no lines. The wing is also TOTALLY depowerable, since you have direct control to the wind. (holding the wind in your hands) Compared to windsurfing rigs a KiteWing covers easily 4 windsurfing sail sizes (which often requires two different masts).

Looks like fun! About how much wind do you need to get going and have fun on a good sized directional board?

The WaveWarrior (click here for more info (http://www.shop.thirdcoastkites.com/KiteWing-WaveWarrior-KWWW75.htm?categoryId=-1)) has a wind range of 16-36kn with a sail area of 7.5m, which is the largest model. This size makes it the easiest for popping up for water starts, but any of the sizes will work on water depending on wind speed and the weight of the rider. Younger or lighter riders would certainly prefer the 4CE or IV8 and you could put floats on all the models for water use. Check out the instructional video link, you can see that the winds were in the 10-15mph range, and it was plenty. But what makes these really nice is the complete depowerability, so if it's really windy you can still ride, just let more wind spill off the wing.

I love that you can use them in tighter areas on land, like long farm roads and fields (around our area), or for riding down hills and dunes while catching air.
