Wind stalkers kiteboarding invites all kiters to take part in the 4TH annual kiteboarding reunion in Naples Florida; this unofficial KITEBOARDING EVENT is for all advanced AND AMATEUR kiters who would like to participate in some friendly competition. Prizes will be given at an after party.

We will give you 72, 36 and 24 hours notice so pray for winnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd

Course race: man-woman

This course race will be designed so that everyone can participate on a TT and surf board or race board.
The race will have different heats depending on how many riders we have, we will do approx 5-7 people per heat and 2 to 3 people go to next heat depending on how many riders and so on until the final

This race can be won by anyone,

Man-woman-amateur

Rules and Requirements

1 ) All riders must be amateur to advanced riders. Riders must be able to go upwind, self launch and self rescue. Riders also should be comfortable riding in rough seas with high winds and choppy conditions.

2.) Riders must be in good physical condition

3.) Riders are encouraged to check gear before event

4.) Riders must complete and return liability, on the day of the event, 2 hour prior to designate event starting time for sign in.

5.) Riders pay $50 cash donation, this is going to be put in a kitty pot to be given as prizes.

6.) Riders will be considered registered once liability waiver is returned and $50 dollars kitty pot donation has been paid

7.) The Naples kite boarding reunion event is scheduled to take place on a weekend .Riders will be given 72 hour notice, via email, of expected start time. Confirmation of start time will be emailed to participants 36 hours before event start.

8.) Acceptable weather conditions are listed as 15-35 knots of wind from the following directions: SSE, SOUTH, SW, NW, WNW, & W

9.) All attempts will be made to hold EVENT on a Saturday, or Sunday.

10.) FREESTYLE AND RACE course is set for Naples Florida 7ave north NAPLES BEACH


We recommend to all riders to check your gear
Bar-lines- quick release (safety first)
Kite-bladders- pig tales
Leave your kite inflated over night
Board straps and fins
Wet suit (in a cold front Naples is not very hot)
Knife,
Helmet and vest

not sure if it will happen this weekend, but I'd recommend staying away from "heats" in your course racing. The problem is that it doesn't allow much riding time for those that are not progressing though rounds.

Are you starting races from a boat? If so, I'd stat the race on a log reach (1/4 mile), and then go into the jibes. This would allow for a fleet start which is exciting for riders as well as spectators. It also allow racers to spread out a bit before the first mark. I'd suggest trying to do 4-5 12 minute races with 1 throw-out after 4 races are completed. This way everyone rides.

if you are starting from the beach, set the first mark broad so that lower riders have to keep it tight and higher riders will have a longer distance to the first mark, but will ride at a faster angle. you can do a simple triangle course with a start on the beach and a finish between the first broad mark and a staff on the beach.

We will not use boats ,we will use jet ski ,we came to the conclusion we will not do heats , Daniel korcoff has designed a course similar to the one in Mexico ,a quick explanation , a zig zag with five buoys ,the first buoy will be the length of the pier or a little bit farther to give the riders time to separate, tomorrow I will do a picture so you guys can see, there will be 4 to 6 races .
We only need 13 knots of wind for this kind of race so bring your course race and surf boards, big kites and small kites in case
We have been having some crazy weather this week, we have had wind for 7 days straight and it was not on our forecast so keep your fingers crossed

As of today Wednesday 02/02/2011 we are still watching the wind for 02/05/2011 but as for now the kite reunion event is on for Saturday 02/05 if anything changes we have our next notice on Thursday to cancel or continue with our plans,

If you look at the web sites it looks a bit confusing but our local forecast is calling for breezy on Saturday, to do any event we need 13knots and up which is why we still continuing with our plans but if anything changes we will let you know
