My wife and I are going to New Providence for a week and then the keys for a week at the end of January. I was wondering what the water temps will be that time of year? Anybody wearing wetsuits or shorties? My wife can ride but not always stay upwind, wheres the best beginner/intermediate places for her.

Thanks

Dan

Googling, 72 and about 70 F for the two destinations respectively for water temperature. The air temperature could be anywhere from the 80's down to the 70's or well less if a strong cold front happens to be passing over. It is too far off to say at this point. I would bring a 3/2 myself for kiting and perhaps a heatseeker if it is warmer.

For Key West there are the flats by sea taxi good for all directions, Smathers Beach for fewer directions, rules apply there. There are other launches higher up in the Keys like Annes Beach, Whale Harbor, etc.. Regarding Nassau, some info appears at http://fksa.org/forumdisplay.php?f=40 but it would be good to get in touch with AJ over there as different launches work for different winds there.
