When Jimmy Lewis launched the Blade, another 12’6’’ SUP Race Board not replacing the popular and competitive 12’6’’ Slice, we were caught by surprise. In fact, we were expecting the Hawaiian brand to release a 14 or 16 footer not just another 12’6’’ Stock class race board.

Why on earth put on the market another 12’6’’, we were wondering? The reason, according to the producer’s claims, was to provide the SUP racer with the ultimate flat water winning machine. What actually puzzled us is the simple fact that the Slice proved to be pretty good in flat water conditions too. Following a brief description of the Blade’s shape and features.

Like the Slice, the Blade is labeled as another displacement shape but we find this assumption a bit misleading as it features a quite pronounced double concave in the hull’s mid section, not to mention the board’s volume, limited to just 230 Liters not even close to the whopping 285 Liters of the Slice. So, defining the Blade a semi-displacement race board would make justice to its fatter sister, at least for the vastly different approaches chosen by Master Jimmy in designing the two SUBs.'
